What the Purdue University HTM Department does to help
its students get ready for interviews!
We believe that there are many things that the HTM
Department does to encourage and aid students to be prepared before their
interviews. Each semester there are over 35 companies that come to Purdue
to interview students for permanent jobs as well as internships. First,
the Career Center holds an orientation meeting which explains the
procedures the students must follow in order to interview. This includes
proper dress, proper resume formats, being on time, thank you letters and
follow up procedures. All students are encouraged to use the resource
materials that are on file in the HTM Career Center which include written
materials, videos, CD’s, and etc. If a student is interviewing with a
company and they have a presentation, the student is required to attend
this.
The HTM Department uses its web site as a major resource
by including links to the following types of information:
Last, HTM faculties have been a tremendous resource by
mentoring and sharing their experiences with students. We have over 18
full time faculty and students are encouraged to go to the faculty members
and ask about various career strategies. Also, faculty brings industry
recruiters, human resource people and people at all corporate levels into
their HTM classes and they incorporate this as part of the curriculum. The
