Professional Wine Studies Program at
The Culinary Institute of America

The Professional Wine Studies Program at The Culinary Institute of America is the most comprehensive group of in-depth wine courses offered in the United States. Our two-to-five day courses provide high-level practical wine education for professionals in the wine, food, and hospitality industries. If you want to substantially increase your wine knowledge in the shortest possible amount of time, our courses are for you.

Students taking courses as part of our Professional Wine Studies Program learn in a wine-focused educational environment. The courses are held in the new multi-million dollar Rudd Center here on The Culinary Institute of America's West Coast campus in the heart of the wine country. The Rudd Center features two state-of-the-art-tasting classrooms designed for the optimal sensory evaluation of wine.

Professionals attending the Professional Wine Studies Program are taught by some of the country’s top wine teachers. The word teacher is important here. These are not simply wine experts; these are individuals who know how to impart a tremendous amount of information quickly. Students also benefit enormously from specialized field trips where they taste with winemakers in their cellars; are taught by viticulturists while walking in vineyards; and interact with noted wine authorities. Wine's perfect partner, food, is not overlooked. The CIA's reputation for culinary excellence is evident in every wine class. In particular, courses that focus on the dynamic interaction of wine and food benefit from the CIA's chef instructors, some of the best in the country. Great teaching is, of course, the strength of The Culinary Institute of America, and part of its mission.
